Board of Directors Announces Leadership Transition

With both gratitude and sadness, the Board of Directors of The Blue Bench today announced the resignation of Karmen Carter, executive director. Carter will support the organization through the end of 2020. During this time, a search for her successor will be conducted.

“On behalf of the board of directors and staff, I would like to thank Karmen for her nearly 10 years of service to The Blue Bench. She has been integral to the organization’s success, and we are grateful for her many years of dedication to ending sexual assault,” said Ted Bellamy, interim chair of the board. “While we are saddened, we are excited for the future of the organization and remain focused on providing vital services to metro Denver.”

In addition to her time as executive director starting in 2011, Carter also held this role from 1995 through 2002.

“Serving as executive director of The Blue Bench and ensuring that metro Denver has access to these vital services and programs has been a highlight of my career,” said Carter. “Now is an appropriate time for a change in leadership, and I am confident that the organization will continue to flourish well into the future.”

Carter will work closely with the board of directors and the organization’s senior leadership to ensure that it continues to deliver on its mission of ending sexual assault by providing care and support to survivors and offering virtual prevention programming. A job announcement will soon be posted on the organization’s website.
